The Mission of the Sonya Staff Foundation
The mission of the Sonya Staff Foundation is based upon the interests and commitments of its founder. These include:
* support for institutions and projects devoted to the study and popularization of secular Jewish culture and history, and of the Yiddish language in particular;
* support for institutions and organizations concerned with AIDS and other diseases, including those institutions that care for and focus on educating the public and empowering people living with life threatening illnesses;
* support for organizations and projects that work to make the arts, humanities and literature accessible to the community without cost or at minimal cost, including support for public libraries and literacy projects;
* support for organizations and institutions devoted to the development of progressive and innovative ideas in the field of camping, in the tradition of the non-sectarian, non-competitive, and interracial camping ideals of Sonya Staff and her husband, Otto K. Rosahn.
