How to Submit A Proposal
The Sonya Staff Foundation considers proposals only from organizations that have been invited to submit them. Proposals will be considered for areas identified in its mission. To be considered for invitation, send a one page letter of inquiry to the address below. Include a description of your organization's work and why you think it fits into the mission of the Sonya Staff Foundation. Please use a type size of at least 10 points.

If you are invited to submit a proposal, please submit four (4) stapled, unbound, copies of proposals that are no longer than four (4) pages in length. Proposals should include a narrative describing: the group's history and mission, the group's goals and objectives, expected outcomes, a project budget and organization budget (if applicable), and two references who are not directly involved in your group. Submit one copy of the organization's IRS 501(c)(3) determination letter. If the organization submitting the proposal does not yet have its own 501(c)(3) status, include a letter from the sponsoring 501(c)(3) organization (the fiscal sponsor) describing the sponsorship agreement as well as a copy of the fiscal sponsor's IRS 501(c)(3) letter. If submitting other documents (such as annual reports), please submit only one copy.

Grants range between $2,500 and $30,000. Proposal deadlines for 2003 are May 15 and September 15 (proposals need only be postmarked, not received, by these dates). Grants are distributed by September or December.

Send proposals to: The Sonya Staff Foundation, P.O. Box 1211, New York, NY 10113. Questions may be e-mailed to Marion Banzhaf at info@sonyastaff.com, or faxed to 212-462-2043 (proposals will not be considered by fax).
